Manager, Network Engineering

From October 2017 to January 2020 I was the Manager of Network Engineering and was responsible for the successful design, deployment, and maintenance of all Network systems. I successfully guided a team of six to eight full time network engineering and network security professionals in addition to a team of offshore network engineering professionals. My duties included setting staff goals, defined technology priorities, and developed long-term strategies to manage and scale the organization’s network. I provided career guidance and performance feedback to team members and communicated and acted as a liaison with end users and colleagues.

  • Managed and executed an initiative to provide carrier diversity to the primary data center for transaction processing further developing business relationships with current and future customers by providing highly available real time processing services
  • Oversaw the successful integration of networks allowing the free flow of information for the merged entities, Heartland Payment Systems and parent, Global Payments
  • Led PCI remediation efforts on behalf of the network engineering team achieving 100% compliance for 2018 and 2019
  • Achieved increased network security for the national data centers through the implementation of Checkpoint firewalls

From October 2015 to October 2017 I served as the Network Manager for the U.S. and Latin America division's Network Services team whose primary responsibility was to oversee the provisioning and maintenance of Network and Telecom Services (Data, Voice and Wireless) at Keurig Dr Pepper. This included directing the delivery of the managed services outsource provider of telecom and hosting.

  • Achieved 100% risk avoidance through the management and execution of a project to upgrade data center, campus and branch network switches and routers at over 170 locations
  • Flawlessly executed tasks as project coordinator for an effort migrating voice systems from traditional communication over expensive PRI lines at multiple locations in an enterprise wide organization to SIP trunking over existing data lines saving the organization $1.5M annually
  • Successfully organized and created the Six Sigma-inspired IT Network and Telecom department Visual Management board receiving high praise from senior management for its clarity, layout, relevance and effectiveness. Achieved Level 4 certification. Root cause analysis resulted in the dramatic reduction of the number and length of remote site location outages by 50% in 6 months
  • Lead IT effort to achieve 100% uptime for 150 major and minor site locations with the installation of 4G LTE wireless back up cards

Senior Network Engineer / Engineer Senior Analyst

Between March 2008 and April 2015 I assumed two separate roles as both a senior network engineer serving on the Data Center services team and then later as a service engagement professional representing both Citigroup Architecture and Technology (CATE) and Citigroup Technology Infrastructure (CTI) groups, In my capacity as a network engineer and as a member of CATE I provided data network engineering services for all business units within the company for Data Center projects. I was responsible for data network engineering definition and design; oversaw the build, validation, and production handover functions. In the latter role, I specialized in interfacing directly with Citi's internal business units to review project requests, advised on technology solution, estimated project time lines and provided budget estimates.

  • Created the project scope of work, high level design and cost estimates to build out and complete the Queretaro Data Center in Mexico
  • Built the WiFi network design and implementation schedule for New York corporate campuses and executive offices
  • Successfully managed and executed the Solana (Westlake, Tx) data center de-commissioning project which saved the organization over $2M in hardware costs and over $3M in annually recurring circuit costs
  • Appointed team lead for the organization's end-of-life cycle program and led the team to successful completion of this effort to meet compliance standards
